Mounting

The method used to mount a work of art or other object depends on the specific properties of the artwork.

Dry and Wet Mounting

Both the dry and wet mount processes are commonly used on posters and photographs. They have the advantage of keeping the paper perfectly flat; however, both processes are non-reversible and therefore should not typically be done on valuable works of art. Mounting a piece usually decreases its value for later resale. Works on canvas or other fabric can also be mounted when cost is a concern and the monetary value of the piece is not an issue

Hinging

Hinging is an archival method used to mount works on paper. Hinging allows the paper to expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity. Bresler Eitel offers museum hinging, which is completely reversible and thereby maintains the full value of collectable works of art.

Stretch Mounting

Works of art on fabric are often stretch mounted. Paintings on linen or canvas are stretched around custom made stretcher bars. Other fabric pieces such as cross stitches or tapestries can be sewn on to an archival board or stretched around it and tacked on the edges.
